Sight words are the most common words we find when reading, which may not always follow the phonics rules that children are learning. Sight words need lots of practice so that children will be able to read them as soon as they see them, i.e. ‘on sight’.
Teaching your child to automatically recognize these sight words while reading will greatly improve their reading fluency and understanding of what they are reading. This should take no more than 10 minutes each day.
