At Charnwood Primary School, ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework’ sets out the learning and development stages for children as they grow from birth to five years. In our early years - whether in the Nursery (FS1) or in Reception (FS2) - the EYFS outlines what we need to do to support your child.

Starting - the first few days at school

The big day is finally here! It can sometimes be very exciting for your child to visit a new place and see new friends, wear brand new clothes and shiny new shoes and carry a brand new bag; but when they are then asked to repeat this the next day, and the one after that, it can become a challenge for them to understand why, particularly after having six weeks of summer holidays and the freedom this brings!

Are You Ready for School?

• It's your first day at school! This is a great game to play with your child. Help your child create his/her character and pick a school jumper, then explore the school and find all the different activities to play.
